It can take some time when we will be able to travel fully, but it’s never too early to plan the next trip and note down cheap things to do in Seoul (in case Seoul is on your bucket list). Perhaps you know that Seoul is one of the most expensive places on Earth with a variety of luxurious districts, skyscrapers, and never-ending life. But you would be surprised, how many free and cheap activities are available in such a moving city. And we are here to break down these activities that would be the most fun for all types of travelers.
1. Riding a bike along the Han River
Taking a bike ride by the Han River is one of the most anticipated activities in warmer seasons and one of the cheap things to do in Seoul. Imagine taking a ride by the alley of cherry blossoms in the middle of the blossoming season! It’s like a fairytale. And what’s even better? The rent for a bike doesn’t cost more than 1,000 WON for an hour of the ride. You can also rent a bike for a whole day! It’s all up to you, and how much time you have.
Just register and fill in the necessary information on the Seoul Bike website and the bike is yours! Just don’t forget to leave and lock the bike in one of the marked spots (they are all visible on the map of the website) before the time ends. 2. Ihwa Mural Village
Visting mural villages is one of the cheap things to do in Seoul and in Korea in general. Ihwa Mural Village is no different – it is one of the popular places of attraction in the city. Beautiful paintings on the buildings in the living area and art installations make you feel that you’re in a local rural area with a few cozy and authentic cafes, where you can take a break after long and exciting walks of exploring. There you can grab not only your favorite coffee or tea but also shaved ice (kor. sulbing) with lots of delicious flavors for the sweet teeth.
3. Hiking in Bukhasan National Park
Hiking in Seoul is always serving breath-taking views of the city. It’s also one of the cheap things to do in Seoul as it doesn’t cost anything! There are a few mountains you can climb up to and one of them is the highest in the city – Bukhasan! Even though it’s the highest peak in Seoul, try out the routes to the other mountains as Dobongsan and Suraksan. Just make sure you have reliable footwear and gloves for better grip as there are not a lot of safety wires and hiking might be a bit slippery on the rocky surface. But once you’re on top, it’s all worth it to see the magnificent panorama of urban and modern Seoul. And don’t to greet all the friendly hikers, a quick chat will definitely make their day and your day as well! You might also be offered to take corn to get back the energy or even a sip of soju (Korean liquor).
